About Brenda May Gallery/MAY SPACE
Established in 1985 by Director Brenda May as Access Art Gallery (1985-1993), the Gallery was also known as Access Contemporary Art Gallery (1993-2001), Brenda May Gallery (2001-2016), and finally MAY SPACE (2017-2022). The Gallery represented 15 artists while supporting established talent and creating opportunities for emerging artists. Black Box Projects was launched in 2014 and was one of the first spaces dedicated to exhibiting moving image artworks in a commercial gallery in Australia, substantiating the Gallery’s commitment to varied contemporary art practices.
